The annual Continued Care Christmas Lunch welcomed service users, carers, friends and other guests for a lovely festive celebration.
Held at the Cairn Hotel in Harrogate, the event included a Christmas meal with all the trimmings, as well as an appearance from Father Christmas, handing out presents.
Live music was provided by talented pianist Henric, who is a carer at Continued Care. He gave a wonderful performance of Christmas songs and carols which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
Among those who attended were service user Barbara, along with her carer Nichola Noble. Barbara said: “It’s my first time at this lunch and it’s been very enjoyable. It’s nice to get everyone together, and people have been very friendly.”
Nichola added: “It’s a really good idea for Continued Care to hold a Christmas Lunch. It gives service users a chance to meet a lot of the staff apart from their usual carers. There’s a really nice atmosphere and it’s been lovely for everyone to celebrate Christmas.”
Service user Joan Black attended the lunch with her granddaughter Hannah Kunar. Joan said: “It’s been very well organised and I’ve enjoyed it very much. It’s been nice to bring my granddaughter with me and to see so many people. Sometimes, it’s a big effort to get out of the house and some people here find it more difficult than I do, so it’s really lovely that everyone has been supported to come together for Christmas.”
Hannah added: “It’s been lovely, and really nice to spend time together out and about with my grandmother. What’s really struck me today is seeing that there’s such a community of people at Continued Care. The work that they do is amazing.”
For Stephen Sutcliffe, the lunch offered the chance to keep in touch with people. He said: “I’ve been a couple of times and it’s always nice to get together and get into the Christmas spirit.”
Margaret Pratt, 90, invited her granddaughter-in-law Kate Pratt to join her at the event. Margaret said: “I’ve been twice before but it’s Kate’s first time and it’s been great. It’s nice to see everyone, and the music has been lovely.”
