Continued Care held a coffee and cake catch-up morning in Harrogate on August 27th, 2019, and raised funds for Macmillan Cancer Support at the same time.
The event, which took place at Carlton Lodge on Leeds Road, welcomed carers, management staff and service users of Continued Care, as well as some of the Carlton Lodge residents. Everyone had a good chat, while enjoying the coffee and delicious cakes on offer.
All the cakes on sale were made by Continued Care staff members. There was also a competition to guess how many berries were in a pie, with the winner due to be announced at the end of this month.
The event was combined with a client forum meeting, which takes place on a regular basis to give service users the opportunity to raise any points that they would like to make, from applauding staff who are doing great work to raising issues that can then be quickly addressed.
Home care co-ordinator Sam Fenwick-Scott, who organised the coffee morning, said: “Everybody had a lovely time and it was nice to see that some of our clients knew some of the residents of Carlton Lodge and they had a good chat and catch-up throughout the coffee morning. Some of them even exchanged numbers at the end so they can keep in contact.
“Clients who wanted to attend but had no access to transport for the event were picked up and dropped off at home by our office manager Mike Herrington, and they were very grateful for his help in enabling them to enjoy the coffee morning.
“It was nice to see our clients outside of their home settings and to get the chance to have a good chat to them. Everyone who came said they would definitely come to this kind of event again.”
The coffee morning made £61, which will be donated to MacMillan Cancer Support at the end of September.
