Continued Care staff shortlisted for Great British Care Awards

Congratulations to the following members of our team in Harrogate, Ripon and Settle who have been named as finalists in the Yorkshire and Humber regional round of the Great British Care Awards:

  • Nichola Noble (Harrogate) for the ‘Putting People First’/ Personalisation Award. Nichola supports her clients by always putting their needs and wishes at the centre of her support. She goes over and above on a daily basis in assisting those who are vulnerable, offering support to homeless charities in Leeds alongside her full time role with Continued Care.
  • Anne Ingledew (Harrogate) for the Home Care Worker Award. Anne consistently provides her clients with a cheery face and a bubbly outlook. She supports individuals with a full 360-degree care approach, going over and above her caring role.
  • Lisa Knight (Ripon) for the Care Newcomer Award. Lisa has never worked in care before but has taken to it so well that we have clients calling to ask for her and saying she is brilliant!
  • Maddie Andrews (Settle) for the Dignity In Care Award. Maddie is an amazing carer who looks at the bigger picture and puts the clients at the centre of all care. She is a fantastic team player. Nothing is too much trouble for her, and she will teach all new staff and support the whole team. Maddie is a real asset to Continued Care.

We are delighted for them all, and they continue a great tradition at Continued Care of being shortlisted in these prestigious awards which celebrate excellence and outstanding contribution from people working in all areas of social care.

Continued Care’s director Samantha Harrison said: “We are so proud of our finalists in this year’s regional awards. The fact they’ve made it to the final means they rank alongside some of the most inspirational people working in the care sector today.

“We are also incredibly proud of our whole team across Continued Care’s services, any of whom could have been nominated this year. In what has been an unthinkable year for everyone, each individual member of our staff has worked so hard to provide care and support to those living in their own homes. Their continued support and dedication to the sector as a whole is truly humbling.”

The Great British Care Awards are based on nominations, with many of our finalists put forward either by their colleagues or the families of people they work with. All nominees are also interviewed by a panel of judges before being shortlisted.

The winners will be announced at a Gala Awards Evening on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at The Railway Museum in York. Winners of all the regional awards held across the country will then go forward to the national finals later in the year.

Andrea Gadd, assistant manager at the Ripon office, nominated Lisa for the Newcomer Award. She said: “Lisa started working for us in March this year having never done care before. She took to it like she has been doing it all her life and we have had lots of very positive reviews from service users and their families. We have one client who, until this week, has refused any other carer. Lisa is calm, professional and caring, three qualities that make her a great carer. She is a great ambassador for the company.”

Samantha added: “We wish everyone the very best of luck at the awards evening in April, and we can’t thank them enough for their amazing work and commitment to helping Continued Care provide the very best person-centred home care to the people we support.”
