As you can imagine, the last few weeks have been extremely busy for us as we put measures in place during this challenging time. We’ve been working hard to ensure all the necessary steps have been taken to keep our service users and staff members safe, and to maintain our service provision for everyone who relies on us.
The health and wellbeing of our clients and staff is our top priority and we continue to receive daily advice from a number of different sources regarding the present situation. This includes the NHS, CQC, the Government and North Yorkshire County Council. Please do bear with us during this difficult time while we continue to monitor the situation and assess our service priorities.
As education and communication is vital, we have sent out a letter today to all our service users, and will of course keep everyone updated with further information where relevant.
The letter details the measures we are taking to ensure the health and wellbeing of our clients and staff. Our carers are continually being updated with the changes that are occurring day by day. Stringent hand hygiene, effective use of gloves and aprons, and alcohol hand gel is essential. Instead of using a towel to dry their hands, we recommend they consider using paper kitchen roll and disposing of it directly into a bin.
We have been and continue to work closely with partner agencies, and we have contingency plans in place. As a first point of call we will be looking at reviewing companionship and cleaning visits, and will keep people informed of any alterations to their visits for shopping etc.
We also provide information in the letter about coronavirus and its symptoms, hand hygiene advice, and how best to look after yourself and contain the spread of the virus. In addition, contact numbers and useful websites are listed, as well as shops that are opening early for elderly customers.
We request that our service users, staff members, their friends and families follow official advice about staying safe and healthy, and that anyone showing the symptoms of coronavirus self-isolates for the recommended time and lets us know immediately.
Stay safe everyone and do get in touch if you have any concerns or questions, either by speaking to our carers or calling a member of our management team on 01423 871 003.
