Congratulations to Rob Ineichen, one of our Harrogate and Knaresborough carers who has just marked his fifth anniversary with Continued Care.
Rob, 33, joined us after deciding on a change of career. He had never worked in the care sector before, having previously had a stint in the Army, been a security guard for G4S and, most recently, made pizzas at Morrisons.
While he was at Morrisons, Rob heard from a former colleague and friend who had joined Continued Care. She knew how much he enjoyed dealing with customers, and thought his people skills would be suited to a role in care.
And she was right! Rob says: “I’d never thought about a career in care until my friend mentioned it. She said I should give it a go, and I really enjoyed it. It’s very rewarding and I’ve learnt a lot.”
Rob is from a military family and has an interest in war history. He really likes discussing it with our service users, particularly those who can remember the Second World War.
Rob’s experience of working at Continued Care has helped him realise how much he enjoys looking after people. He is now planning to go into nursing, studying part time with our support.
Rob says: “Continued Care’s director, Samantha Harrison, is a registered nurse and she has been very supportive of my plan to study nursing. The company in general cares for its staff in lots of different ways, both personal and professional. They support our wellbeing and do little things that make you feel appreciated and valued, such as giving everyone a card and gift at Christmas. I’ve never experienced that before. And when my partner and I adopted our child a couple of years ago, Samantha was very flexible and supportive.
“Professionally, everyone is encouraged to develop a career in care and provided with lots of opportunities for training, qualifications and progression within the company.”
To say thank you for his five years with Continued Care, Rob was presented with a card and a badge. He is a wonderful carer and we are proud to have him on our team.
