Continued Care highly commended in Harrogate Business Awards

We’re delighted to report that we were highly commended as Best Family-Run Business in the Harrogate Advertiser Business Awards.

In a glittering ceremony at the Royal Hall, our team enjoyed a night celebrating the best of our district’s businesses, from new start-ups to long-established firms with dozens or even hundreds of staff.

We were honoured to be shortlisted in two categories. For Best Large Company, we were up against The Harrogate Bus Company and the Yorkshire Agricultural Society – both extremely well-known and long-established. We couldn’t be too disappointed to lose out to YAS, who were certainly worthy winners.

In the Best Family-Run Business category, there was a lot of competition from some very strong companies, including two which have been trading in Harrogate for more than 100 years. We may be approaching our 25th anniversary, but we have a long way to go before we can claim the same!

The winner of the category was Ogdens of Harrogate, a family-run jewellers founded in 1893. The citation given by the judges was highly impressive and everyone seemed pleased that such a long-established firm was recognised.

We were delighted that the judges chose to award a Highly Commended certificate in this category, and very honoured that it went to Continued Care. The family-run feel of our company is something which makes us particularly proud, and we know our staff and our clients appreciate it too. There will be soon three generations working alongside each other here at Continued Care.

The night was not yet over: thanks to some outstanding photography skills on our table, we were awarded the prize for the best selfie of the night! We shared the bottle of bubbly between our team, and we loved seeing the entries from all the other tables around the room.

For the first time, the Harrogate Advertiser held a nominees’ reception a few weeks before the awards night. It was a great opportunity to find out more about the many great businesses and individuals in our area, and to share some of our latest news, before we all gathered at the Royal Hall to find out who had won each award.

Once again the Harrogate Advertiser and all the sponsors put on a fantastic show for us all and there was much to celebrate among the nominees and winners. We’re proud to be part of such a fantastic community of local businesses.
