Staff raise hundreds of pounds for mental health charity

Mental health Foundation fundsraising at the Yorkshire Three Peaks

Some of our staff at Continued Care have raised hundreds of pounds for a mental health charity after completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.

The team of seven set off on the 24-mile route on September 10th with the aim of raising £500 for the Mental Health Foundation, but generous donations from family, friends, colleagues and clients meant they ended up smashing their target by an extra 30%.

The final total raised was £655, which will now be matched by Continued Care to make a total donation to the charity of £1,310.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks route includes 1,585m of ascent as it winds across the Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough peaks in the Pennine range and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Continued Care’s director Samantha Harrison, who was among those taking part, said: “Thanks to Amy, Dave, Gary, Gill, Iona and Mike for joining me on the challenge, and well done to them all. It wasn’t an easy feat and we were exhausted by the end of it, but we are so proud that we did it.”

Samantha said they chose to support the Mental Health Foundation because of the importance of the charity’s work, particularly during this difficult time. The charity’s mission is to help people understand, protect and sustain their mental health, with their activity focused around prevention and awareness.

Samantha said: “We are mindful of the impact of Covid-19 not only affecting individuals’ physical health but also people’s mental health and wellbeing, which is why we decided to support this amazing charity.”

She added: “Thank you to everyone who made a donation to our fundraising efforts, particularly as we appreciate how difficult it is to ask for sponsorship at this time. We are very grateful for all the fantastic support we received and are delighted that we are able to make this donation to such a worthwhile charity.”

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is one of a number of fundraising activities undertaken by Continued Care’s staff throughout the year as part of their commitment to helping and supporting other organisations that are providing vital health and social care services to people in the Harrogate community and beyond.
