We were delighted to welcome around 40 people to the Continued Care Christmas Party 2023.
Our annual festive event has been running since 2012 but was forced to take a break during the coronavirus pandemic. This year’s party marked its return, so it was even more special to see our staff, people who use our services and their families come together for a fun celebration and a tasty meal.
Held at the Cedar Court Hotel in Harrogate, the party included a delicious two course Christmas dinner and dessert. It was thoroghly enjoyed by all.
One of our carers, Henric, is a very accomplished pianist and very kindly played some wonderful festive tunes and Christmas carols on his electronic organ to get everyone into the Christmas spirit. Thank you Henric!
Jim, who uses our services in Ripon, served as one of the city’s famous hornblowers for a number of years. He is hugely experienced in entertaining people and has even met the late Queen! So he was in his element as Father Christmas, chatting and laughing with everyone as he handed out gifts. Huge thanks to Jim for being such a brilliant Santa – we’re not sure who enjoyed it more, him or us!
Continued Care’s director Samantha Harrison gave a short speech saying how wonderful it was to welcome so many people to the Christmas party. Her microphone was then passed around the room for people to say a few words should they wish.
The daughter of one of the people who uses our services took the opportunity to give a lovely speech thanking the carers for “the wonderful job they do day in, day out.” She added: “This has been a lovely event. It has been so nice to meet new people, make new friends and start the Christmas cheer.”
Elsie, who uses our services in Harrogate and attends our social day club every week, then took hold of the microphone and gave a lovely rendition of Silent Night. The singalong was continued by Sheila with her fantastic version of Jingle Bells. It was a great way to round off such fabulous festivities!
Our annual Christmas lunch is really important to us because it offers everyone the chance to enjoy the festivities at this time of year. Our clients know that we are here for them all year round, and that includes helping everyone to join in the Christmas celebrations. We’re delighted that so many people were able to attend this year and had such a wonderful time.
