Double win at the Care Awards

Great British Care Awards 2024 Yorkshire and Humber

It was a double win for Continued Care at the Great British Care Awards regional finals 2024!

The Great British Care Awards celebrate excellence and the outstanding contribution of everyone working in the social care sector. We have a long history of nominations and wins at the regional and national awards, and this year was no different.

Six members of our staff were shortlisted for a Yorkshire and Humber award and headed over to a glittering ceremony at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on Friday, November 8th.

We had a fantastic evening celebrating the very best of social care and all the amazing people who work in the sector. The night was topped off when two of our team won awards.

Care Awards winners

Kristina Carr was named winner of the Dignity in Care Award for her focus on client independence and choice while respecting and maintaining privacy and dignity at all times.

Nichola Noble won the Care Assessor Award after impressing judges with her expertise in individual initial assessments and care plans which place the needs and choices of individuals at the heart of what she does. This is the second year in a row that Nichola has won this award, after also picking up the Putting People First award two years ago.

Kristina and Nichola will now go forward to the national finals next March.

Highly commended awards also went to Mike Herrington for Ancillary Worker and to Continued Care ourselves for Care Employer.

The other members of the Continued Care team who were shortlisted were Mel Weldon for Dementia Carer, Clifford Dominic for Care Newcomer and Monica Tavares for Three Rs (Recruitment, Retention and Recognition). We are so proud of them all, and of all our staff who work so hard to ensure the people who use our services receive the very best care possible.

“A fantastic celebration”

Continued Care’s director Samantha Harrison said the evening had been a fantastic celebration of the amazing work carried out every day by people in the social care sector.

She added: “Nichola and Kristina are very worthy winners of their awards. Well done to them, as well as all our staff who were shortlisted this year.

“The most special thing about these awards is that people are put forward for them by their colleagues and the people and families they work with, so it’s a wonderful feeling even to be nominated.”
