Carers of the Month
Congratulations to our recent Carers of the Month and thank you to ALL our staff who work so hard with kindness and compassion every day supporting the people who use our services as well as our staff team.
Each month, staff and service users are asked to recognise and nominate colleagues and care staff who have gone the extra mile while at work. The registered manager and managing director read the nominations and then select a member of staff from each area within Continued Care to receive this award.
Our latest Harrogate and Knaresborough Carers of the Month are, pictured from left:
March – Gary Crook; April – Rumbi “Rumbidzai” Gwanzura; May – Any Scott; June – Clifford Dominic
Our Ripon, Boroughbridge and Thirsk Carers of the Month are, pictured from left:
March – Sandra Staples and Fiona Mackay; April – Marlvin “Tanyaradzwa” Bamu; May – Lynda Spence; June – Tori Blaney
If you would like to nominate someone as Carer of the Month, please call Monica in Harrogate on 01423 871 003 or Matt in Ripon on 01765 699 086.
Survey Results
Every year we send out surveys to the people that use our services, the professionals we work with and our staff members. The aim is to help us ensure our services are the very best they can be. We analyse all the feedback we receive, and work with individuals to address their comments.
Our latest surveys examine our performance through 2023, and we are delighted that the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. We have already been working on various areas of improvement. We’re also enhancing staff training and increasing awareness of some of the additional services we provide, such as our Social Day Clubs.
For more details about the results of our latest surveys, read our blog ‘Lovely feedback from our home care survey.’

Fantastic reviews on Homecare website
We’re thrilled to have a fantastic review score of 9.8 out of 10 on the Home Care website! This was calculated from 35 reviews and we are grateful to everyone for their wonderful comments. A big thank you, too, to our amazing team for all their hard work.
Please do leave us a review!
Birdie app
Have you downloaded the Birdie app yet? This secure care app allows you, your care manager and approved family and friends to view information about the care you are receiving. It allows them to keep up to date with your visits and how you are being cared for.
Our survey of service users mentioned above showed that nearly all those who use the app have found it useful – so why not give it a go? Please call Mike Herrington on 01423 871 003 if you’d like to find out more.
New way to reward carers
As well as nominating our staff for Carers of the Month, you can also give recognition through a new rewards scheme to our team members who have gone out of their way to support you or have shown particular kindness and compassion.
Our new employee referral and rewards app called Care Friends gives carers points for undertaking and completing training, good performance, positive feedback from service users, and success in their qualifications. The points are then turned into a cash bonus every month that they can draw from. Please do let us know if there is anyone you think should be recognised in this way for the amazing work they’ve done.
Social Day Clubs
Why not join our Social Day Clubs?
You can: • Socialise and make new friends • Access practical services such as a manicure • Participate in exercise and activities such as baking and painting • Enjoy a hot lunch and a pack-up tea and juice
The clubs run twice a week in Harrogate and are open to all adults, with family / friend carers welcome to attend too. You can book a place for yourself or someone you know. The first session is free and funding towards regular attendance at the club may be available to you as part of your plan of care from North Yorkshire Council – this would need to be assessed to see if you meet this need and a referral can be made.
Please come along and see what you think! You will be made very welcome, and we can arrange transport there and back for you free of charge. To find out more about our Social Day Clubs, click here or please call us on 01423 871 003.
Help us support our Charity of the Year
We are delighted to be supporting Alzheimer’s Society as our Charity of the Year. We’re raising funds as well as awareness of what they do in the community. For over 40 years, the Alzheimer’s Society has been a powerful force for change, improving the lives of people living with dementia.
Our fundraising efforts will include a variety of activities, and we also have handmade cards for sale in the office, so please come and take a look.
Our latest fundraiser was the Trek26 walk on the 10th of August, a 13 or 26-mile walk in Bakewell along the river Derwent and taking in Chatsworth House. Our Continued Care team of 12 carers and office staff, including our director Samantha, smashed their fundraising target of £2,400, with the current total standing at an amazing £3,200.
Thank you to everyone who has helped us support this vital charity.
