Home carers recognised at Great British Care Awards

Once again, members of our home care team have been recognised for their excellence at the Great British Care Awards.

Each year we have a number of finalists – and regular winners – in these prestigious social care awards, and this year was no exception.

Sarah Linfoot, Gary Crook and Rachel Sampson were shortlisted in the Putting People First, Dementia Carer and Care Innovator categories respectively.

And at the regional ceremony in York on November 12th, Sarah was announced as the winner of her category!

Acknowledging Sarah’s compassion, dedication and client-focused approach, the judges praised the levels of care she provides, saying it “goes so above and beyond, it would be an honour to be within her care.”

They added: “Sarah really pulls together all the strengths and powers that ensure the service users are the priority day in and day out.”

Sarah has worked in social care for 16 years, with the past five at Continued Care. She said she loves working in home care and finds it very rewarding.

“I love to make my clients laugh; it’s so nice to see them smile,” she said.

“I always bear in mind that sometimes our faces are all they see each day so I make sure to take time for a chat and a cup of tea. I have a lovely rapport with all my clients, and they were all absolutely over the moon to hear about my award.”

She added: “I was blown away when my name was announced, I really wasn’t expecting it. But what I do is just natural to me, I’m just being myself.”

Huge congratulations to Sarah, and also to Gary and Rachel for making it to the finals which in itself is no mean feat!

Sarah’s win comes after her colleague Nichola Noble won the same category in the 2020 awards, which took place in July this year after being delayed by Covid. Nichola had been shortlisted along with three other Continued Care staff members: Anne Ingledew for the Home Care Worker Award, Lisa Knight for the Care Newcomer Award and Maddie Andrews for the Dignity In Care Award.

Our director Samantha Harrison said: “All our staff do such a fantastic job and it’s wonderful for them to be recognised by the wider care community. We are so pleased for Sarah in winning this award which she thoroughly deserves, and we’re also delighted for Gary and Rachel in their achievement of being shortlisted. They all deserve to be recognised for their hard work in delivering outstanding personalised care and support for our clients.”

The Great British Care Awards celebrate excellence across the care sector and aim to promote best practice within both the home care and care home sectors. They pay tribute to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence in their work within the care sector.

Continued Care as a company and our staff are regular finalists and winners at the awards. Wins over the past couple of years include Best Home Care Employer and the Home Care Frontline Leaders Award.
